Wretched Fate - Carnal Heresy

Wretched Fate Sculpt a Grisly Death on "Umbilical Suffocation" (Early Track Stream)

There’s something about the ‘traditional’ Swedish death metal guitar tone that just clicks with brutal execution, and Wretched Fate is an excellent example: the Swedish band keeps a lot of sonic hallmarks of their local scene’s death metal flavor, but brings a fresh wave of aggression and off-kilter tactics. Their upcoming album Carnal Heresy isn’t always aggressive up-front, but rather envelops and flanks the listener, with those timeless buzzsaw riffs proving to be rather creative in their delivery of agony–expect unusual sonic layers throughout, plus progressive-tinged riffs and chromatic oddities amongst the carnage.

We’re premiering “Umbilical Suffocation” below, which begins with some extremely weird samples that only get grosser the more you know about the song (see: the band’s quote below) and kind of steps things up from there. This track features some of the most savage, punishing riffs on the album, but tempers them with overarching melodies. Keep an eye out for the return of the skin-crawling background noise in the track’s sinister mid-section breakdown.

“Umbilical Suffocation” was written even before the release of our debut album Fleshletting. It’s the typical Bloodbath worship that fans have come to know us by, with lots of brutality and a sinister atmosphere. The lyrics tell a story about a fetus that refuses to be born and kills both the mother and itself in a frenzy of autoerotic asphyxiation.

Carnal Heresy releases February 24th via Redefining Darkness Records.
