Vulnere Igneous

Vulnere's "Igneous" Is Red-Hot Death Metal (Album Stream)

The “pop” of a cranked snare, the dismembering buzz of rapid-fire riffs, vocals like a nonhuman choir: hearing well-and-proper crushing death metal is an aural treat like none other. Vulnere, hailing from Portland, sits in an extremely satisfying no-man’s-land between brutal, technical, and generally just devastating death metal. On their debut album Igneous, Vulnere puts your nose to the grindstone, leaving no space between you and their invasive riffs — take a deep breath and stream the album in full before its Friday release.

Though inspired by brutal and technical death metal from the late 2000s and early 2010s, Igneous is a modern creation, untethered to the past: massively inventive, high-intensity, and laced with interesting bits of ambiance and mysticism in the rare moments when the riffing slows down. Vulnere doesn’t deliver just ear-pleasing sonic destruction — whatever parts of your brain survive should enjoy this too.

Igneous releases October 23rd. It will be available for purchase via Bandcamp, and merch and physical pre-orders are available now via BigCartel — you can connect with the band on Facebook.
Regarding Igneous, guitarist Mike Ashton comments:

With Igneous, we set out to offer something with the auditory landscape and complexity of brutal death metal with the energy of classic death metal. We hope you’ll enjoy the destination this journey has brought us to.
