Vitriol's "Crowned in Retaliation" is Technically Proficient Hatred (Guitar Playthrough Video)

Portland death metal trio (now apparently a four-piece, but that is more recent news) Vitriol make music which exudes emotion. Of course, that sentence is a bit of a false lead: this is not romantic music, nor is it sad or filled with longing. No, Vitriol is the music of hate.

In a new playthrough video, guitarist Kyle Rasmussen and bassist Adam Roethlisberger put their own vitriol on display so that the world may ask their forgiveness.

With X-acto precision, Rasmussen and Roethlisberger’s fluttering display of mastery transcends the accepted norms of “technical” music. Free from the confines of tech-death’s emotionless pitter-patter, Vitriol’s visceral hatred slams from their gut to the listener’s in the shape of a steel fist. This is extreme music, the music of, well, vitriol and pure hatred.

It takes all of one’s being, all of one’s abhorrence to perform, and Vitriol’s own presentation transcends beyond their own name.

To Bathe From the Throat of Cowardice releases September 6th via Century Media Records (pre-orders available here).
