Vile Haint's "Sacrificial Baptism in Murky Waters" is Ghastly Appalachian Black Metal (Full Album Stream)

Ghastly raw black metal duo Vile Haint‘s most notable trait is their ability to sound otherworldly. If you recall from the last time I covered Vile Haint, frontman and composer Ryan Clackner recounted local lore, citing ghosts (haints) of mal-intent among the cypress groves and cotton fields. Though their debut Ol’ Hatchie Haint was conceptually pure, Vile Haint still had many attributes which tied them to Clackner’s other band Primeval Well, primarily in its use of Appalachian-inspired melodies. On Sacrificial Baptism in Murky Waters, Vile Haint’s upcoming sophomore album, Vile Haint discover more about themselves, taking on a, to reuse a word, “ghastly” character and truly embodying the haints which inspire the project overall. Taking key notes from early symphonic black metal, Vile Haint’s use of keyboards on this new effort ooze into the cracks left bare by hissing, uncomfortable guitar tone. A morose collection of miserable songs, Vile Haint sheds the exoskeleton of self-influence and becomes something hazy and powerful. Listen to Sacrificial Baptism in Murky Waters in full below.
