. . .

A crust punk black metal band filming a video in the woods is as ubiquitous as a promo photo staged in front of a brick wall. Still, for a band that plays with light and dark, life and death, safety and pain, Eros and Anteros like Oathbreaker, a deep dark fortress of forest growth is a suitable backdrop.

Eros|Anteros is the follow up to Belgian band Oathbreaker's 2011 album Maelstrom. Due out in August from Deathwish, Eros|Anteros employs layers of guitar that play together beautifully, with hair-raising screams of "I'll never know what it means - this deadly calm inside", and explosions of riffs and blasts. Twin meanings and symbolism abound on this album, made apparent in the songs "As I Look Into the Abyss" and "The Abyss Looks Into Me". Finally, at the end, the epic battle commences: Eros|Anteros, closes with the 11-minute shoe-gazey "Clair Obscur".

To tide you over until August 20, or at least until pre-order information is announced, check out the video for "No Rest For The Weary" alongside the stream for "Condor Tongue", the latter of which we originally posted in June.
