Valdur finally have a Bandcamp

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: every unsigned band should have a Bandcamp. Since MySpace has basically died (why do bands still send friend requests there???), Bandcamp is the most fan-friendly way to hear new bands. It’s not necessarily the most band-friendly way to hear new bands; ReverbNation has more features, Bandcamp lacks tour dates listings, and the vaunted Topspin platform will become available to the public this month, potentially besting both Bandcamp and ReverbNation. But until Topspin goes public, Bandcamp is still on top.

Valdur have finally set up a Bandcamp. There, you can stream and download (on a pay-what-you-want basis) their two albums. You can hear the most recent one, Raven God Amongst Us, below. It’s inexplicable to me why Valdur remain unsigned. Maybe it’s because they live in the snowy mountains of Mammoth Lakes – not a great place to build a fan base. But the Internet is a great place to build a fan base. Valdur are one of America’s best black metal bands. They do Norwegian-style black metal right; for Odin’s sake, they have an actual Norwegian named Thor at the helm. It’s time people learned about them. Download their music, check it out, and spread the word.
