It’s pretty standard Upcoming Metal Releases nomenclature to call lists “big.” In fact, it has been written so often, you might think we’re crying the album variant of “wolf.” (A wolf made out of jewel cases? Terrifying. RIP, Giger.) However, this time, we mean it. Corrosion of Conformity, Godflesh, Incantation, and Mastodon? That’s not the contents of the CD book sitting in our car or our open message board debates — that’s what’s out this week. Jeeze.

Of course, you knew about most of these. You probably already had the date on the calendar circled. So, let’s dive in and give some shine to the Of Note All-Stars. Inanimate Existence level up, increasing their skill at widdling. Serpent Venom do doom with a Dopethrone density. 人間椅子 have been around for nearly 30 years and skew Sabbath with fascinating idiosyncrasies. You’ll stop and gawk at the big names on this list, and rightly so. But make sure you scroll a little further and find the little guys. It’s worth it.

Also worth it? Looking into a loan. Gonna be an expensive summer.
