Upcoming Metal Releases: 5/4/2014 – 5/10/2014

And. . . with the first pick in the UMR Draft. . . Invisible Oranges selects. . . Noneuclid, from the university of Blood Music.

The words sent shock waves throughout metal blogdom as the Invisible Oranges GM nabbed the highly regarded progressive thrasher.

“It’s a smaller class, but there’s some real talent to be found,” the editor said, in between mass-deleting swaths of scout demos off his phone. “I just love Noneuclid’s motor. The length. The fretwork. They come to play. Sometimes, it’s that simple.”

One had to ask whether it was wise leaving Arkona‘s folk metal, Battleroar‘s powah, or Doom:VS‘s funeral dirges on the board. Ian has been on a scalding hot seat since taking over the IO reins.

“Obviously, we did our due diligence. We streamed each entry, even E-Musikgruppe Lux Ohr, who we’re pretty sure doesn’t play our sport. Noneuclid are going to change the terrain, though. They’re difference makers. I’d grab them first in a far deeper draft. That said, hey, you only have one pick.”

Then, a reporter explained the concept of rounds.

Ian looked up. “Damn. Really? I. . .traded the rest of the picks to Belichick for his Nile hoodie. I thought the picks were, like, lotto scratchers.”

Mel Kiper has graded Ian’s haul a ‘False Minus.’ In other news, the New York Jets are reportedly interested in Ian’s services.

Corrections: The lumbering Albinö Rhino‘s heaviosity is truly tangible. It’s out in the wild. Promise. For real now. Click the link for details.
