Upcoming Metal Releases: 12/22/2013 – 12/28/2013

Despite quite a few subgenres owing their very genesis to blasphemy, metal sure cleared the decks for Christmas this year. If you were expecting a downpour of Deicide-y vile bile or Nordic nihilists blowing their Xmas bonus at the MAC counter, apologies are extended because it’s not happening. So, yeah, the new release flock isn’t as stocked as usual, though there’s still some swans swimming in these seven. For instance, the long-awaited DOOM disc is one gift capitalism-concerned crusties will unwrap without guilt. And, Augurs‘s sludge groove and amp-flogging feedback will lift the afternoon spirits of anyone who spent Christmas morning forcing a fake smile. (“Oh, a new work shirt! That’s snot yellow. Bought with my own money. Thanks, progeny! You’re welcome for existence!”) However, really, any of these choices will provide enough heft and volume to drown out a possible screening of Love Actually. That’s something.

With that, we wish you a merry whatever. Take care of yourself this week and, from experience, don’t mix psychedelics with egg nog. You’ll shoot your third eye out, kid.

See something we missed? Goofs? Let us know in the comments. Plus, as always, feel free to post your own shopping lists. Happy digging.
