The Road to Hell's Headbash: Cemetery Lust, Screams of the Violated

This stream is presented as part of our Road To Hells Headbash series; one new song from Hell’s Headbangers Records every Monday until Hells Headbash, this Labor Day weekend in Cleveland, OH.

Let’s. Get. Grunty.

There are only so many times you can listen to those first two Celtic Frost, Slayer, or Kreator albums before you want something different. Those records rule, but there’s a limit to how far thrash and death metal’s early days can take you. There need to be those slight influences of crust, groove, and brutal DM to color things interesting for the modern listener.

Cemetery Lust have plenty of Scream Bloody Gore and Arise to them, that’s for sure. But they manage to incorporate enough of the influences that metal has since bestowed on the world into their music so as to not sound like just another old-school clone. In a genre that too often seems to have its parameters set in stone, bands sometimes forget that there is still room to do something standout if you look for it. Cemetery Lust are finding that room while still staying happily inside the lines.

Check out the band’s latest, Screams of the Violated, below. They’ll be playing the Headbash at 3:00pm on Friday, so make sure to get to the Agora early.
