The Bleeding - Monokrator

"Screams of Torment" Emanate from The Bleeding's Death-Thrash Abattoir (Early Track Stream)

I find The Bleeding‘s name to be very fitting: they offer a malicious strain of metal sure to get the blood pumping (and spilling, more accurately). This just feels sharp. The United Kingdom-based band’s upcoming third album Monokrator is pit-stoking death/thrash metal, incorporating plenty of classic hallmarks of the genre into a cutting-edge barrage. Adept at both manic speed and groovier, slower punishment, The Bleeding wields melody as a way to infuse their sound with thrilling horror: there’s a narrative, story-telling element to Monokrator that makes it more than just a belligerent mass of swarming riffs and sandpaper vocals.

We’re premiering “Screams of Torment” today, a riff-packed track that shows off the band’s highly technical and intricate style, as well as how they can slow down the tempo for crushing effect. The track’s mid-section might be a highlight of the album as it reaches a punishing crawl: from the clanking bass to the unexpectedly guttural vocals, “Screams of Torment” unveils a new gnawing, hideous side of the band–and then launches into a wild solo as it ramps back up. It’s a horror-infused rollercoaster that brims with adrenaline.

The band adds:

“Screams of Torment” is a depiction of the darkest aspects of human existence, with themes of fear, despair, and inner conflict. We can be consumed by a savage taste for anguish that may leave us forever scarred by the horrors we’ve experienced. Throughout our journey as a band, we’ve faced numerous tribulations and struggles, but our determination and ironclad resilience fuel us with a burning intensity which led to this album to be more brutal and crushing than ever before. As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we’re incredibly excited to release our upcoming album, which we believe is our most compelling work yet.

Monokrator releases June 9th via Redefining Darkness Records.
