Swamp Immerse Us in Unimaginable Filth On "Swale in Extremis" (Video Premiere)
Picture a thick, murky tract of water rife with pollutants, disease, and general nastiness. Now, imagine that muck sucked into a high-speed pump and blasted into your face at a terminal velocity — that’s Swamp, a death-meets-sludge metal venture from the humid depths of Jacksonville, Florida. After releasing two EPs over the last two years, they’re back in 2022 with “Swale in Extremis,” a ripping track that highlights the band’s vicious, burbling onslaught. Frantic drumming and snarled vocals swirl around “Swale in Extremis,” coalescing into a highly chaotic track with meat-and-potato death metal riffs and some hardcore pit-starters anchoring the madness. The band’s horror inspirations take priority in the accompanying video, which intersperses some old clips with a fragmented performance and some surreal effects, but that horror obsession is felt throughout the track, too. From the chainsaw-inspired guitar tones throughout and sinister harmonies that unfurl in the second half, “Swale in Extremis” is as much a bloody thrill as it is a romp through hazardous waste.

“Here’s our video for “Swale in Extremis”; we spent one whole night in the woods fueling ourselves only with pretzels and beer so we could deliver this to you. Thank you to our sister in Christ, Bailee Ingersoll, and her team for setting everything up and filming our itty bitty little pale baby bodies. Another big thanks to Jordan Vance whose work we’ve been sucked into during couch sessions in his collaborations with Windhand, Inter Arma, and Genocide Pact to name a few. Jordan helped us immerse this song into the barbarous and horror-filled themes present in the track. Forever grateful to Papa Hate and Terminus Hate City.”

You can find Swale in Extremis as one of the bonus tracks on Swamp’s first vinyl pressing of their most recent album Resolve to Repel, released via Terminus Hate City.
Swamp will be playing at Archetype in Jacksonville on June 30th with Knoll and Slugcrust, with further tour dates in September supporting Slugcrust.
