Stream: War Master's "Immortalized In Sacred Flame"

. . .

You can already tell what Houston death metallers War Master sound like based on their name. How they didn’t make it on the bill opening for Bolt Thrower at Chaos in Tejas, we’ll never know. A battle set between the two, preferably at 3 AM on the Lamar Passenger Bridge, would have made for much battle without law. While their name comes from when Bolt Thrower were at their deathiest peak, War Master can’t get that crust stench off of their jackets. Recently, the band brought on ex-Insect Warfare/ex-Hatred Surge vocalist Rahi Geramifar as their new vocalist, replacing Daniel Shaw (who’s done much of War Master’s artwork, as well as the covers for Toxic Holocaust’s Conjure and Command and Hatred Surge’s Human Overdose). He plunges to the deeps without going into sub-Devourment self-parody, as is the curse with many Texas death metal bands. Basically, as good as Shaw was, Geramifar’s perfect for the band.

War Master will release a new 12″ EP, Blood Dawn, at their tour kick-off show tomorrow at Mangos in Houston. We’ve got the last track from the EP, “Immortalized In Sacred Flame,” for streaming below. There’s still plenty of Jo-and-Karl worship to be found here, but War Master also appear to be taking cues from fellow Houstonians Blaspherian and Imprecation. In true H-Town style, make sure there’s 25 lighters on your dresser, yes sir, and po’ up a cup of that Texas Tea before you spin “Flame.” When is OG Ron C gonna release a mix of chopped up not slopped up War Master songs?
