Stormkeep Guards the "Glass Caverns Of Dragon Kings" (Early Song Premiere)

It’s time for black metal, and I mean the really good stuff. None of the pedestrian, aesthetic-bound material which lacks substance, no, as the leaves fall and the sky cries snow, the world needs quality black metal to get through the seasons ahead. With picturesque sound and epic gait, Colorado’s Stormkeep‘s (which features a member from your favorite new death metal band) approach to black metal is classic, but revitalized. Through spidery, melodic dual-guitar riffing and oozing, atmospheric keys, Stormkeep’s take on “melodic black metal meets dungeon synth” casts off the pretenders who lazily mash a casio above riffless rawness — there is effort to be found here. Carefully crafted in the shape of the old Austrian masters, Stormkeep’s debut MLP Galdrum is a tasteful anachronism for the cold days to come. Let the leaves fall and listen to MLP opener “Glass Caverns Of Dragon Kings” (what a title) below.

From the band:

Stormkeep began as a stronghold for individuals who sought to carry the flame of a lost age and hearkens back to a time when majestic melodies and keyboards could live side by side with razor sharp riffs and pummeling raw production. Two years ago work began on recording their first fully formed manifestation. After a promotional tape made circulation in the underground, and two special concert appearances, a partnership with Ván Records set the release of this recording. Stormkeep’s debut MLP is a perfect soundtrack for journeys through snow capped mountains, medieval dungeons and regal castles. The four hymns which make up Galdrum create a world of ancient legends and magick, a place of long ago, somewhere deep in time.

Galdrum releases November 20th on Ván Records, with preorders opening November 11th.
