Slow Southern Steel - Trailer #2

. . .

Slow Southern Steel, the documentary “about underground heavy bands south of the Mason Dixon”, has posted a second promotional trailer. (See above, first trailer here.) The video is somewhat abstract, showing Hank III playing his grandfather’s “Alone and Forsaken” (hear original here), as images of musicians flash by.

As the list of featured musicians below shows, sludge is the order of the day. But Collapsar, HOD, Khann, and Withered are hardly sludgy, so I’m curious how they will fit into the film. And I’m very curious about the film in general. Southern sludge isn’t my favorite music, and I could do without the Confederate flag-waving. But I enjoy some of the bands, and there are some real characters in that scene. I look forward to learning about them.

January 2011 (coming up!) is the film’s scheduled/attempted completion date, with a DVD release later next year. CT of Rwake is directing. Follow the film’s Facebook page for updates.
