Saros was one of my happiest discoveries last year. I reviewed the band’s Acrid Plains record here and interviewed guitarist/vocalist Leila Abdul-Rauf here.

Abdul-Rauf also plays in another band, Vastum, which is absolutely killer. Its sound is dirty, crusty death metal. The members’ résumés include Saros, Acephalix, Poison Idea, Infest, Crom, and 16. Vastum makes its live debut March 12 at Thee Parkside in San Francisco alongside Embers, Nux Vomica, and Order of the Vulture.
