Sepulchral's "Tombstone Thrower" Is Effortlessly Putrid Death Metal (Early Track Debut)

There’s something really magical about when people get the “old school death metal” formula right. There’s more to death metal than simply sounding like Dismember or Funebre, you know? That isn’t to say Sepulchral are the most original band in the universe, but wow do they get the formula just right. With putrid vocal presence and guitar tone that could clear acres of dense forest without breaking a sweat, this Spanish band’s ode to the days of yore draws from many different pieces of the OSDM approach (which is more of a spectrum than a specific sound). On the punkier, d-beat-oriented end of things, the dirge-opened “Tombstone Thrower,” which can be streamed ahead of From Beyond the Burial Mound‘s February 25th release date, is as heavy as the stone slabs which are being effortlessly tossed around. This is death metal at its core, and Sepulchral doesn’t need an army of four-sided long-sleeve shirts to make their point. Let the music speak for itself.

From Beyond the Burial Mound releases February 25th on Soulseller Records.
