Screaming Bloody Oranges

Screaming Bloody Oranges, Episode #2: Metal in the Year of COVID-19

Screaming Bloody Oranges

Our adventure into the podcast realm continues — this time, we’ve got a regular-length episode, one that’s closer in line with our plans for future content/format. We have some wicked cool segments planned for the next few episodes; as those roll out, we’d love to get feedback from listeners on what you all are digging the most. An episode solely dedicated to analyzing the b-sides of Metallica’s first four albums has been proposed — too specific, or not even close? Maybe we’ll go for it…

In any case, here we go with Episode Two. Be sure to share and subscribe (links to streaming services below).

Despite being recorded about a month ago, our discussion on COVID-19 continues to be relevant — it sure seems like we’re just looking at the first year of COVID-19 in some ways, and those 2021 festivals are looking, unfortunately, to be under threat of cancelation already. Local shows might be making returns in some areas, possibly, but not in any sustainable fashion, so it seems likely that our social interactions will continue to be limited for a while longer, or at least limited to online only.

That huge bummer aside, there has been some exceptional heavy music released this year, and we touch on a few releases in the podcast — Cirith Ungol‘s amazing comeback album Forever Black (full band interview from Joe Aprill), the stunning sophomore full-length Mandala of Fear from Chicago progressive doomsters Huntsmen (video interview from Ted Nubel), and more.

We will leave you with a video discussed in the last few minutes of the podcast, which holds its own even sans context.
