RIP Ronnie James Dio

. . .

Ronnie James Dio is no longer with us. But let’s not mourn. Let’s celebrate, since he left us so much cause for celebration. I discovered Dio through Black Sabbath’s 1992 album Dehumanizer. He was 50 and out-singing guys half his age. Judging from YouTube clips and live reviews, that was true even in later years. What a voice – dramatic and menacing, yet noble. Hearing Dio makes one hold one’s head high. Metal always has a shortage of great singers. That shortage just got more acute.
