Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol

Heavy, Catchy Madness: Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol Is a "Shoo-In" (Early Track Stream)

Often, a band name tells you all you need to know about a band. But not here. Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol is not in the business of foodservice, but what they’re serving up is nourishing in a certain sense: fuzzed-out, speaker-exploding groove that’s both sonically excruciating and intoxicatingly alluring. Rock’n’roll to the core, the Austin-based band has clearly taken notes from noise rock and doom on how to achieve this kind of duality, and then dialed up the formula to new absurd levels. Confused venue-goers attending their shows with incomplete context might go hungry, but their eardrums ought to be stuffed.

On their fittingly-titled new album “Doom-Wop,” the Austin, Texas band find a weird sweet spot of harshness and catchiness that goes down like a greasy, gut-busting bad decision. Merging sawblade-on-concrete guitar tones with a thumping rhythm section, new single “Shoo-In” shows off how saccharine vocal melodies delivered with an audible sneer are the perfect cherry on top for this concoction.
