Revocation

Revocation Sails Toward the "Netherheaven" In Style (Tour Dates, New Album Soon)

With the release of their eighth proper album on the horizon, Revocation’s Netherheaven represents the next stage in their sonic evolution: from primordial metallic neophytes back on albums like Empire of the Obscene and (my first taste) Existence Is Futile to more full-fledged tech-death beasts such as Deathless, Great Is Our Sin, and The Outer Ones. Netherheaven continues the progression in quality you have come to expect from the greater part of the last decade.

Given the style of music that the band plays, one wonders how much fun can be had given the level of complexity with which they play. The answer, however, is a lot. A lot of fun is happening behind the scenes.

I was made aware of a photo of bassist Brett Bamburger, taken earlier this year, where he’s donned a look that is quite peculiar given the level of complexity that Netherheaven takes on… or is it, when you factor in the band’s not-that-disguised weirdness? Bamburger tells us about the below photo as follows:

Revocation

There is a lot behind this one for sure, please allow me to explain. Basically what you are seeing in this photo is a prime example of what we like to call ‘heating up’. I can definitely say that in this image I am well on my way to becoming a Hotso Boi, which is one of the highest levels of heat on the scale. A true Hotso will deliver a bit of predictably unpredictable behavior, most especially in favorable environments. Pictured here is a pump well primed for heat, as we just got off an insane tour of mostly sold out shows with Cannibal Corpse, Whitechapel & Shadow of Intent. Money was long, time was of no concern & we were riding high off an amazing experience – all of which are PERFECT conditions for heating up. Immediately following the completion of the tour in Ft. Lauderdale, a series of hot decisions led to everyone purchasing Hotso outfits, about one thousand beers, crab boat cruises, and a few days leisure trip to Key West. In order to maintain optimal heat, one must fuel the fire, which is why I can be seen carrying as many alcoholic beverages as possible (the fuel, obviously), on a crab boat, in my Hotso outfit. I had to captain the heat flow, which was no issue because my team was so hot. Shortly after this photo was taken, we sailed off directly into the sun, while dancing with dolphins & drinking ice cold Busches.

Netherheaven releases next week on September 9th via Metal Blade Records.
