Primus announce new album, expand tour

Primus

Primus will release their ninth album, The Desaturating Seven, on September 29 via ATO. It’s the followup to 2014’s Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble and it’s the first album with the classic lineup of Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde, and Tim “Herb” Alexander since 1995’s Tales from the Punchbowl [Editor’s Note: *screaming*]. You can listen to the strange-as-ever (as is their canon) lead single “The Seven” below.

Primus are currently touring with Clutch, and they’ve also added many more tour dates for the fall.

In case you’ve forgotten, the musicians in Primus have quite the metal “pedigree.” There is the famous story of Metallica not allowing bassist Les Claypool to join due to his musician’s prowess, and, of course, we all forget how Larry LaLonde helped further death metal at its impetus. Take a minute and read through the liner notes of Possessed’s Seven Churches if you are still unsure. As for Primus themselves, maybe revisit their more canonical albums: Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Pork Soda, and so on. You will be surprised just how heavy this band can get, however strange.
