Primitive Man - "My Will" (Song Review)

Those familiar with Primitive Man are those quite aware of the aural onslaught that they bring. Each and every track results in more pain and anguish for the listener. Their debut Scorn, already four years old, still prevents a solid night’s sleep for those who have experienced it. Their EP Home Is Where The Hatred Is is no different, clocking in at a mere 30 minutes of vitriol and some of their most uncomfortable material yet.

Enter Caustic, their forthcoming release on Relapse. “My Will,” the first track released off of the album, is a bite-sized piece of mayhem and misery meant the whet the despair for the next six weeks between now and the release date.

Ethan McCarthy’s vocals remain as frightening as ever, and the atmosphere provided by guitar and drums create a descent into pain that has no equal. If the rest of the album continues this trend, then Caustic will be a punishing listen for even the most experienced set of ears. Listen close, and hear the march towards annihilation just over the horizon. Caustic is due out October 6th on Relapse Records.
