Neige Morte and the Art of Impenetrability (Track Premiere)

282754

What is impenetrability? We can consult Webster’s, which would be a cliche, or we can find an embodiment. What is so dense, so ridiculous that it simply cannot be breached? The new wave of discordant, “out-there” black metal has been a testament to the journey toward the impenetrable. Big, gnarly chords, blasting madness, and howling emptiness, “dissonant black metal” (ugh, what a terrible thing to be coined) destroys all in its path. Stream a new Neige Morte tune titled “Lämna Inga Spår” exclusively below.

Of course, Neige Morte in this sense is far from the disjointed black metal of their previous efforts. Finding impenetrability through the art of plod and the finesse of carefully placed dissonances, “Lämna Inga Spår” (trans. “Leave No Tracks”) flattens anything surrounding it. Simply put, this song is like attempting to breach concrete with a pencil tip. It isn’t happening, no matter how hard you try.

IIII releases May 15th via Division Records.
