Neige et Noirceur - "Battlespirit" (Song Premiere)

NeigeNoiceur

In the world of Metal Noir Quebecois, black metal isolate Zifond’s Neige et Noirceur has been a singular entity. Though the country’s majesty is celebrated by mainstays Forteresse and Chasse-Galerie’s atmospheric nationalism, it was Neige et Noirceur’s frigid, mechanical rage which successfully embodied the blustery, snow-blanketed Laurentides. Over the years, we see Zifond’s vision become less alien, less detached, moving from the astral gaze and naturalism of his earlier works to the sudden human element of Les Ténèbres Modernes‘s vision of the first World War, with a sonic shift to match.

“Battlespirit”‘s war-like energy roars with the ferocity of a mechanized panzer division. One of the more accessible, melodic songs on the album, “Battlespirit”‘s melodic, near-Scandinavian approach sets a new course for the oft-cold, detached Neige et Noirceur. Heralded by guest vocalist Chimere Noire’s deep howl, Neige et Noirceur’s new, blistering persona looks back on Marduk’s Panzer Division, but with the crystalline, cold ambiance which pervades Zifond’s new vision. Though this new shift from the natural beauty of Quebec’s blanketing snowfalls to the Great War may come as a shock, but the transmutation in sound works in tandem with this new focus.

The cold winds of Les Ténèbres Modernes‘s war will be unleashed on Sepulchral Productions on June 23rd. Preorder the album now and have an exclusive listen to “Battlespirit” below.
