Necrot - "The Blade" (Song Premiere)

Dear readers, by the time you lay your eyes on these words I will be flying to Baltimore for Maryland Deathfest, but that doesn’t mean the music stops. In fact, We have several premieres in store for today, beginning with “The Blade”, the opening track from Blood Offerings, the upcoming album by bay area death metal outfit Necrot. In last month’s Editor’s Choice, I described the band as follows
“Sharing members with Acephalix, Vastum and Rude, the Bay Area death metal power trios lots neatly into that region’s fertile death metal sound, primitive but always hooky. Their collected demos portray a band lovingly recreating first generation death metal both American and European, the kind that still had audible traces of NWOBHM and thrash in it.”
All of that remains true on album opener “The Blade”, a song with a merciless sort-of-hardcore stomp and a yell-along chorus that’s almost too infectious for any band with so much Autopsy influence. Take a listen, try not to get it stuck in your head.
