Morbid Angel's new album artwork

. . .

A wait of almost eight years, and we get this???

I have a folder on my hard drive called “Album artwork – bad”. (See below.) Whenever I see an album cover that’s egregiously bad, I file a digital copy in there.

The folder includes the covers for the latest albums by Angra and Arch Enemy. Amusingly enough, Gustavo Sazes, the artist behind them, designed Morbid Angel’s new album cover. That will also go in the folder.

What is going on here???

That title font is too big and clashes with the band logo font. The title font reminds me of that of Frontline Assembly’s Millennium. It screams “bad goth club”.

The biggest metal release this year deserves better.

Or does it? We’ll find out June 7, when Illud Divinum Insanus comes out on Season of Mist. Maybe by then one of us can actually remember the album title.
