Mondo Generator - We Stand Against You

Stoner-Punk Legends Mondo Generator Lash Out on "We Stand Against You" (Early Album Stream)

The three years since Mondo Generator's last album Fuck It (not counting the unearthed Shooter's Bible) have been, well, eventful. The jam-packed whirlwind of pandemics, wars, and all sorts of nonsense in between clearly lit a match under main man Nick Oliveri (ex-Kyuss, ex-Queens of the Stone Age), as the upcoming follow-up We Stand Against You is, to be succinct, much angrier.

Oliveri's war-torn howls are actually mostly unchanged, but their backdrop has shifted from jam-heavy grooviness and punky sleaze to unbridled, discontent rage. It's a change evident in big barraging d-beats, even scuzzier guitars, and escalating tempos–Mondo Generator's quick-thinking mix of punk energy and mind-blurring stoner sonics is especially furious this time around. While I'm not sure I'm on board with everything the band is angry about here, I do think part of converting anger into an honest, cathartic record involves being uncompromising and that's the case here. On We Stand Against You, Mondo Generator holds nothing back and spares no one.

We Stand Against You is out tomorrow via Heavy Psych Sounds, but you can stream it below early.
