Misgivings Taps into Hellish Energy on "Masquerading as God" (Early Track Stream)

Like a walk to an execution, Misgivings‘ self-titled debut offers listeners no quarter and no escape, fashioning a bloody path from riff after devilish riff. Those in the market for killer death metal should welcome the journey, however, as the French quartet weave an impressive amount of catchy riffs and leads into their fast and aggressive approach while still maintaining a malevolent bent. Tracks like “Masquerading as God,” which we’re premiering below, seem to take control and demand attention through constantly-changing cadences and captivatingly sinister motifs. Listen here:

Kicking off with a snappy drum fill, “Masquerading as God” is a burst of frenetic death metal that wields melody as a force of overwhelming evil. The main hook, as well as most of the rest of the song, is wickedly memorable, and, combined with hellish vocals and constantly escalating drums, becomes a headbanger’s delight. While the production and overall aesthetic are menacing enough, the driving songwriting makes the track rip from start to finish.

The band comments:

This 2nd title proposed is undoubtedly one of the most brutal of the album. His writing dates back to 2004 and initially appears on our 4th demo. It is offered in a much more brutal version with destructive drum patterns.

Misgivings releases June 24th, 2022 via Dolorem Records (for digital, see Bandcamp).
