Migration Festival 2016 Initial Line-up Announced

There’s a new festival in town and it has just announced its line-up. After Wisconsin’s Gilead Media presented two successful Gilead Fests, the owner of that label, Adam Bartlett, has teamed up with David Adelson, owner of Olympia, Washington’s 20 Buck Spin, to present the joint Migration Festival. It was hinted at a few months ago that the two labels might be planning something, and the initial line-up that was just announced is mouth-watering. Just like the labels themselves, the music represented covers the spectrum of deep, thoughtful, dark and heavy music. We are fans . . . Just look at our writers’ Best of 2015 year-end top albums lists and most of the bands on this lineup are mentioned at least once. While most of the bands on the line-up are on the labels’ respective rosters, not all are. Some of the bands were chosen, as the press release says, as “other affiliated and respected artists, highlighting the distinct and contrasting styles that makes each label stand out.”

The fest is scheduled for August 12-14 at Capital Theater in Olympia. The initial lineup includes Auroch, The Body + Krieg, Christian Mistress, Dead To A Dying World, False, Fórn, Full of Hell, Khemmis, Kowloon Walled City, Mutilation Rites, Nightfell, Obsequiae, Pale Chalice, Thou, Vastum, VHOL and Yellow Eyes, with several more bands promised. After-shows and ticket information, along with lodging and other pertinent info for those folks hitting it from out of town, is promised for sometime in February.
