This is The Pook — the ultimate black metal cat.
The Pook took his name from the Irish “An Púca” meaning “The Ghost,” thus displaying his tr00 pagan leanings. Rumour has it that Abbath’s corpse paint was directly inspired by The Pook’s appearance — right down to the white beard (a distinct oddity in Black Metal circles, I think we all agree, but good for keeping warm in the grim frostbitten surroundings of dark northern forests). The Pook’s pastimes included misanthropy, howling, and destroying Christian literature (or, indeed, any literature or paper left unattended). His trademark post-dinner howl would have made even Gaahl shudder.
The Pook died on June 25th, 2009. He was 18.
