Metal pets: Oberon and Callisto, celestial cats

Cats mistaken for stars

Oberon and Callisto are Tonkinese cats named after various moons in the cold, dark depths of the outer Solar System, far from the warmth of the Sun. It is only fitting that grim, frostbitten black metal is their muse of choice as they complete a journey to the stars and take their place as part of the majesty of the night sky.

Burzum – My Journey to the Stars

These voyagers are descended from an ancestral bloodline maintained by a B-movie actress who appeared in “The Apple” (a Star Trek: TOS episode for all you geeks out there). Given their celestial nature, these felines of superior intelligence have a penchant for black metal that contains artwork with astronomical references (such as Requiem Tenebrae by Nehëmah and Sorrow Galaxies by Mütiilation), as well as dark ambience with allusions to Empire Algol.
