Track Premiere: Lycia - "The Fall Back"

Free fall, delay, time stalls, decay
The fall back is gone

To call Lycia a pillar of underground music would be an understatement. Musicians and bands from across the board cite Lycia, who have 30 years and now 10 full-length releases under their belt, as a strong influence. To put things into perspective, even Xasthur took upon the challenge of covering Cold opener Frozen as a bonus to his Subliminal Genocide album. The trio of Mike VanPortfleet, Tara Vanflower and David Galas’s signature brand of lush, doomed “goth” music, generally categorized as darkwave

“The Fall Back” gives A Line That Connects an almost violent birth with a funereal gait and near in medias res introduction. Dense and emotive but still retaining a delicate, lace-like feel, the record displays Lycia’s classic sound first heard on Cold and The Burning Circle And Then Dust born anew. This rebirth is due in part to their reunion with guitarist David Galas (who was absent on their previous album, Quiet Moments). This is music for late nights alone.
