Longtime readers may remember modern composer Mario Diaz DeLeon from his solo experimental electronic project Oneirogen, which we covered in our Deconstructing Interference column. DeLeon’s musical ambitious extend beyond metal adjacent and into metal proper with his project Luminous Vault, a duo with bassist Sam Smith of Artificial Brain, which marries the pair’s mutual interest in brain-bending death metal and electronic music. De Leon’s proficiency with percussion programming works to great effect on Charismata, the band’s upcoming EP to be released by Profound Lore on March 10. Sample the second song, “Kyrios” below.
