Leonov – Procession

On "Mesos," Post-Metal Collective Leonov Lend Hope to a Troubling Future (Early Track Stream)

Post-metal often majorly features the idea of dynamic contrasts: loud against soft, triumphant against despondent, fast against slow. Leonov doesn't fully discard the idea of contrasts, as their new record Procession combines elements of each spectrum, but they also aren't in the business of playing favorites or simply progressing along those axes. As their new single "Mesos" shows, Procession is tied together with a unity and consistency that makes the album feel more like the listener is walking around their sound and finding new sides, rather than starting in one place and ending up somewhere completely different. Contemplative and somehow urgent, Procession puts harsh-edged riffs and insistent percussion on the same level as floating vocals and musing, faded melodies: no part of the record is just there to make something else later make sense.

The band comments:

"Mesos" is the second single from our upcoming album Procession and is about believing in new possibilities and is in many ways a summary of Leonov's journey so far.

Most of our dedicated fans have heard this song before, as it was pre-released as a celebration of our 10-year anniversary a couple of years ago. We are excited about it finally being a part of an album (our favorite format) and with a fresh mastering by Magnus Lindberg.
