Jeff Hanneman, R.I.P.

Jeff Hanneman

Founding member of Slayer, guitarist, and metal legend Jeff Hanneman died at 11AM PST of liver failure at the age of 49, according to a report on Billboard.

Hannemann formed Slayer in 1981, taking the band to the top of the metal world, creating multiple bonafide classics in Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss and more. Thirty years later, Hannemann was forced to leave behind the band he loved after contracting necrotizing fasciitis in early 2011. Exodus guitarist Gary Holt sat in his stead, and in the time since.

Jeff Hanneman, you will be missed and were loved by metal fans around the world. You can never be replaced. Thank you for everything you have done for our music and our culture. Rest in Peace.
