IO Book Giveaway: "Black Metal: Beyond The Darkness"

Just saying the phrase ‘black metal’ these days raises eyebrows, as the issues of origins, ethos, and acceptable limits of experimentation are heavily debated from here to just about everywhere.

Aiming to set the record straight on the darkest of genres, a new guidebook was recently published, titled Black Metal: Beyond The Darkness. A chronological overview of black metal’s developments and debates, the book collects existing and newly commissioned essays from the likes of Brandon Stosuy, Louis Pattison, Nick Richardson, Hunter Hunt-Hendrix, Jérôme Lefèvre, and Diarmuid Hester amongst others, in addition to previously unseen archival photography, album art, and assorted black metal ephemera.

To enter to win a copy of Black Metal: Beyond The Darkness, in the comments below tell us your favorite black metal artist and explain why they’re a cut above the rest. The contest ends at midnight on Tuesday, July 24th. If you do not receive an email on the 25th stating that you are the winner, you can buy the book at 40% off by emailing Black Dog Publishing at [email protected].
