IO Album Giveaway: Baroness's "Yellow & Green"

The double album is a tricky beast. Few can pull it off–Pink Floyd,  Minutemen, Genesis, and a handful more have been successful–so it came as a surprise when Savannah sludge-dudes Baroness took a stab at two discs with Yellow & Green, officially released this past Tuesday.

The record side-steps metal much like fellow southern doombringers Torche did earlier this year when they traded heavy metal for hard rock on Harmonicraft. The results feel like something altogether new–experimental but inviting, expansive and reflective in a way that somehow reflects the album’s titular color themes. (I hope the next album is purple-themed, if only for the possibility of a veiled Dave Chappelle reference.)

Is it a good thing that John Baizley sounds more like Dave Grohl than Lemmy these days? Only you can decide. Regardless, the double disc is a must have for the die-hard Baroness fan, and today we’re giving away a signed copy to one lucky reader!

To enter to win, tell us in the comments below which color Baroness album you dig the most, and which color you hope is next and why. This contest will end at midnight on Thursday, July 26th. As usual, you must have a mailing address in the continental U.S. or Canada to enter.
