Heltekvad's "Fornægter din æt" Forges Medieval Weaponry

Featuring prominent members of the new Danish black metal scene, Heltekvad draws from related bands Afsky and Morild’s melodicism and emotional intensity and dials the whole thing to 11. Largely Medieval in stature (Encyclopaedia Metallum went so far as to accept Heltekvad’s genre as “Medieval black metal, which is a rarity) and often featuring proto-folk melodies as well as the occasional use of keyboard horns, this Danish trio’s intense and empowered take on black metal wanders into the “over the top” school. Featuring an absolutely incredible vocal performance from guitarist Ole Pedersen Luk, whatever emotional content Heltekvad carries as an instrumental unit is taken to the next level of vigor and ferocity needed to make songs like “Fornægter din æt,” a song the band reports to be their first written as Heltekvad, all the more memorable. Listen to a pre-release stream of “Fornægter din æt” below.

Morgenrødens Helvedesherre releases March 25th on Eisenwald.
