Greatest Hits: Top 7 Most Metal Science Fiction Premises

My favorite article from the past decade is “Top 7 Most Metal Science Fiction Premises” by Doug Moore. It stirred in me the kind of excitement that others get when discussing Scandinavian metal and ice hockey. Doug mentioned some themes that I had not considered, and commenters provided deep recommendations. I noticed that my favorite music includes vague, timeless lyrics. This allows me to envision a narrative like a space opera or apocalyptic warfare. I’m not sure if the music came first or the literary plot – was the author or musician inspired by the other? Are there any narratives left to tell? The most unique and rewarding elements are this intersection of dark, inhuman realms that help me decompress from mundane work and tolerate the daily grind. So now I’m going to read Iain Banks’ last Culture book and crank Enslaved’s Below The Lights. Happy Anniversary IO! Many thanks to Cosmo, former staff and current crew!
