Occultation remind me of my teenage nights when I watched Fellini films and envied the fun that Italian grownups had. They dressed well, they rode around on each other’s backs, and they had orgies that put high school parties to shame. I don’t remember the soundtracks to these movies (probably because I was too busy wishing I was Marcello Mastroianni – dude got with both Faye Dunaway and Catherine Deneuve), but I’d bet Occultation would do the trick.
In vulgar terms, this is “female-fronted occult rock with ties to Negative Plane”. In dubiously less vulgar terms, this is “like Black Math Horseman after a long night of wine in which off come the clothes and out come the ritual toys”. It’s shadowy, obscurant, and crackling with fuzz and organ. If you liked the last Negative Plane record, this is cut from the same robed/hooded cloth.
