Exclusive Stream: Witch In Her Tomb - Maleficus Maleficarum

. . .

Central Illinois’ Witch in Her Tomb turned heads early last year with a seven-track blitz of a demo that took a machine-gun approach to black metal. That demo was noisy, vile and melodic all at once and left me, for one, wanting more. A new Witch in her Tomb track showed up on the excellent SVN OKKLT Compilation a couple months back, and today it’s our pleasure to offer a stream of the band’s forthcoming 7”, Maleficus Maleficarum. For those who have followed Witch in Her Tomb on their path of destruction, you may notice that their songs, over subsequent releases, have ordinal names. Their first demo featured songs “I” through “VI,” the SVN OKKLT Compilation offered “VII,” and here are “VIII” through “X.” It’s hard not to wonder what “XI” will sound like when it comes. On “X,” after two minutes of what sounds like a jackhammer pounding a guitar, the song goes out in an uplifting symphonic blaze.

Maleficus Maleficarum, a joint release between Crippled Sound and TYR Records, is out before the end of the month.
