Devin Townsend announced today via Facebook that he’s taking a break from the famed Devin Townsend Project after eight years of touring.

He also announced that he’s working on four albums currently — not surprising considering how prolific he’s been throughout his career. Hopefully this means we’ll soon be seeing some new and supremely interesting material, which we’ve come to expect from Townsend.
The gentleman he is, Townsend also thanked his collaborators, team, and others for working so hard under, essentially, the Townsend name and image. Anything Townsend is involved in basically becomes “his” in that way, but in his decency and true respect, he identifies this and praises those who made it possible for him to achieve his personal goals.
Where Townsend goes is where his fans will follow. Where he lands is anyone’s guess, but chances are it’ll be a fun (and characteristically eccentric) ride.
