Cultic - Seducer

Cultic Reveals the Dangerous Allure of the "Seducer" (Early Maxi-Single Stream)

Death/doom metal often finds itself in sewers, tombs, and other places of rot — it’s slightly less common to encounter the dungeon variety. If ‘dungeon death/doom’ doesn’t immediately conjure any sonic images, fret not: that’s where Cultic comes in, delivering an engrossing take on the genre that draws inspiration from dungeon synth’s rough edges and unerring commitment to building atmosphere. Tortured screams and dangerous magic roam the halls of Cultic’s loud, often dilapidated-sounding metal: prepare for wild synthesizer lines, a theoretically lethal amount of delay and reverb. It’s unhinged, delightfully so, and hones in on its chosen aesthetic with an incredible precision. We’re premiering their new maxi-single Seducer today, which tells a tale of a dangerous and alluring entity with a combination of low-fidelity loudness and a subtle sense of unease. On Seducer, Cultic provides a refreshingly novel combination of nasty death-doom and fantasy horror aesthetic: in these darkened halls, ‘ooghs’ and spooky soundscapes collide.

The band comments:

SEDUCER revolves around an archetypal sex witch possessing powers capable of either exalting or devastating her victims. We believe it serves as a perfect segway into our next album, where we will share tales of individuals immersed in our high fantasy universe.

–Brian Magar (Guitar & Vocals)

This was my first journey into the Golden Castle to record for ‘Seducer.’ I almost perished to the sheer heaviness of the riffs. Thankfully my years of conjuring the dark, low-frequency arts did not fail me. The title track SEDUCER features the former bass player who is a dear friend, and I am on SEDUCED, so it serves as nice passing of the baton. And now we will take this baton and beat to a bloody, lifeless pulp all who dare enter the Tower. This is only the beginning. YOU ARE SEDUCED!!!

–Andrew Harris (Bass)

Seducer releases July 20th via Eleventh Key.
