Converge makes the world go 'round

Converge just posted a live-in-the-studio teaser to their upcoming record. The headline says, “New album out soon on Epitaph/Deathwish.” It’s unclear how “soon” that is, as I haven’t been able to find an album title or release date. Normally I am impervious to pre-release hype. But I am sitting here in a coffeeshop, drowning out the surrounding noise with this, over and over again, at high volume, drunk on that crackling riff. But for the blastbeats,it could have been on Kill ‘Em All. It is inspiring to see Ballou, Newton, and Koller at work. That hooded figure in the middle might be Bannon. Knowing they are in there, crafting sounds that will reach here – that makes me warm yet shivery.

Converge raze the Northeast for a week starting Monday.
