Coffins on vinyl

. . .

Fresh off a set at Maryland Deathfest – perhaps they met their big inspirations Autopsy – Coffins have two new vinyl slabs on offer, both with amazing artwork.

The first is Sacrifice to Evil Spirit, their official debut. This is its first time on vinyl, now with extra tracks and artwork by Putrid. (It reminds me of his cover for Hooded Menace’s last record). Italian label Grind Block has pressed up 500 copies. The first 100 were colored and sold out in 5 days. The above flyer says 260 black vinyl copies are remaining (as of last night, 240 remain). Pre-orders are flying out the door, so don’t hesitate. Now is a good time to mail-order from Europe, as the euro is taking a beating from the Greece/Spain financial crisis. Grind Block says that shipping is 7€ to Canada/US and 5€ to Europe. You can hear the title track below.

20 Buck Spin has finally put out the long-awaited Stormcrow/Coffins split 12″. I haven’t heard it yet, but Coffins don’t screw up, and neither do Stormcrow. A buddy of mine has this 12″, so I got to see it in the flesh. It’s a beaut, with artwork by Sean McGrath of Impaled/Ghoul. (You can see his original, non-colorized piece here.) Order the split here, or in a discount bundle along with the Stormcrow/Laudanum split, perhaps the heaviest split I’ve ever heard.

Coffins should tour with Coffinworm, and the tour should be sponsored by Coffin Case.
