Revolting and Revelatory, Cancer Christ's Hardcore Spews Forth On "God Hates Cops" (Early Track Stream)

Bold statements are not just familiar territory for Cancer Christ, they're their foundation. The Los Angeles group ties together hardcore, thrash, and shock rock under a banner of even more extreme presentation: their live shows include everything from blood baptisms to flamethrowers, building a twisted portrait of religious, filthy fervor. Thus, their boldly-titled new God is Violence EP kicking off with a track brashly labeled "God Hates Cops" is actually fairly tame within the canon of Cancer Christ, and may be a good starting point for those unfamiliar. Stream it here and watch for the new EP to land in early January.

Don't expect any long-form artistry here--this is abrasive, fast noise. Catchy punk riffs and clipped vocals present the central argument, but acidic synthesizers, voice modulation, and the occasional sample bring in an electronic/industrial side too. In a lot of ways, Cancer Christ is music built for performance -- and their recent tour binge supports that -- but their recorded presence is foul and bouncy enough to convey their sleazy, psychopathic appeal.
