Two reasons to dig into raw black metal outfit Aludra: their upcoming second full-length Mass Stellar Graves is set for release later this month, and a three-cassette compilation box from Akashic Envoy Records featuring one of their new songs -- along with three hours of other exclusive and rare material from the label's roster -- is landing in just a few days. There's a third reason, too: Mass Stellar Graves is cosmically bleak, but totally luscious in its devastation. We've got a peek below with "Imprisoning Light," the latest void-creation strategy from Aludra which, by the sound of it, is entirely effective at generating swaths of darkness for your mind to roam free in.

Where raw black metal survives is the realm of the abstract -- the music, including its production, is viewed through a seemingly blurry reflection of itself, leading the uninitiated to hear simple static or just total chaos. What Aludra have done, though, is weave clear emotional waypoints throughout the music's undulations -- tempo changes, transitions, and shifts in tonality all fit together like quality construction. But, it all amounts to destruction: "Imprisoning Light" is devoid of hope, sinking deep inside of you as vocalist Imber's shrill shrieks and cries tug at what's left of your mind.

As mentioned, the song will appear on an Akashic Envoy Records cassette compilation box (titled Transmissions from the Ætheric Plane) which releases in two days. The compilation will be split among black metal, dark ambient, noise, and dungeon synth, so you can imagine how well Aludra fits into the mix.
