Aeviterne: Peerless and "Sireless"

AEVI cover

Aeviterne is a new technical death metal band of high-quality lineage. Guitarist/vocalist Garett Bussanick and bassist Eric Rizk both hail from tech-death trio Flourishing, with drummer Ian Jacyszyn best known for his time in Castevet. Their aim in Aeviterne isn’t far afield from Flourishing; both bands, while definitively on the technical end of death metal, retain a raw and cavernous production and a more chaotic, primal approach to riffs than some of their cleaner, more clinically precise peers.

Their impending new two-song EP Sireless, streaming in full below, shows a sense of sonic kinship with groups like Portal and Ulcerate, indulging in post-Gorgutsian skronk and angular riffing alongside unconventional song structures. Aeviterne retain the same sense of song-oriented construction and deliberate pacing as groups like Immolation or Thantifaxath, marrying well the technical and progressive thoughts and dissonant sheets of sound to forms that let the riffs breathe and sink in.

Following the recording of the EP, Aeviterne were joined by Sam Smith of Artificial Brain as an additional guitarist, making their new recording/touring unit a four-piece of impeccable stock.

The Sireless EP is out May 4th via P2 Omerta, run by seminal Copremesis frontman Paulo Henri.
