Forcefed Horsehead's Rage Grows With "Every Death You Take" (Early Track Stream)

This Norwegian band’s chaotic intensity doesn’t stop at their band name and song title choices–Forcefed Horsehead seems to embody upheaval on every level. On their upcoming album Monoceros, death metal’s riffs and sonic textures prove to be fertile ground for intense deviations into hardcore, grind, and more. Despondent melodies slither throughout the record, but they’re jammed into brutal and whiplash-inducing song structures as if to ratchet up the pressure. Positioned as Monoceros’ opening track, “Every Death You Take” blasts off with little preamble and barely stops to take a breath throughout. It operates in a pleasingly tumultuous middle ground between death metal and hardcore, wielding each new frenzied riff as an improvised bludgeon. There’s approximately fifteen seconds of gloomy melody wedged in here, too, as if to foreshadow some of the more melodic-driven moments later in the album, but this 2:34 opening salvo is a forceful declaration of the band’s intent: pure mayhem.

“Every Death You Take” is about self-proclaimed prophets who use lies, deceit and fearmongering to justify their own crude and hateful behaviour.
It is the first single from our upcoming album Monoceros, and the opening track for the album. Monoceros was recorded in full during the pandemic at Vakuum Studio in Oslo, Norway and is a melting pot of aggression, frustration, hard work and a healthy dose of good old fun.
